Distribution is part of the research system

A transparent publication should make its work easy to find, subscribe to, cite, and verify—without calling technical eligibility an audience.

Publishing ends the research workflow. It begins the distribution workflow. If a reader cannot discover the canonical page, subscribe without surrendering personal data, or identify who the byline represents, open methods are technically present and practically hard to use.

That is why Fourth Down Labs now treats canonical URLs, sitemaps, feeds, structured authorship, and external verification as operating evidence. None changes a regression coefficient. All change whether the result can compound.

THE DISTRIBUTION RULE

Technical eligibility is not reach. A live sitemap is evidence that we published a sitemap—not evidence that Google indexed it or anyone read it.

Five layers of open distribution

01

Canonical

One preferred HTTPS origin for every article, even when alternate domains preserve and redirect the same path.

02

Discovery

A root XML sitemap and permissive robots policy tell crawlers what the editorial publication considers canonical.

03

Syndication

RSS and JSON Feed carry every public study and process note without collecting an email address.

04

Meaning

Organization and Article JSON-LD identify the publication, organizational byline, dates, sections, and free-access status.

05

Evidence

Search Console, URL inspection, and actual feed demand—not deployment success—decide whether distribution is working.

One article, one canonical URL

4downlabs.com is the preferred origin. www.4downlabs.com, fantasyanalytic.com, and www.fantasyanalytic.com preserve the incoming path and query, then redirect there. The XML sitemap includes only canonical URLs, never all four copies.

That matters beyond search. Research citations, social shares, feed identifiers, structured-data IDs, correction links, and artifact references should converge on one stable address. A brand can own multiple domains without creating multiple versions of the truth.

RSS is the newsletter we can support today

Our email capture is paused. The previous container-bound prototype could claim success without durable storage, delivery, double opt-in, or unsubscribe handling, so we corrected the public record and closed the form.

RSS 2.0 and JSON Feed solve a narrower problem honestly. They let a reader subscribe to all public studies and AI Journal notes without an address, account, cookie, tracking pixel, or delivery vendor. Each item carries the organizational author and an explicit AI/run-mode disclosure. There is no claimed subscriber count because we do not measure one yet.

The byline is an organization, not an invented person

Article structured data names “Fourth Down Labs Research Desk” as an Organization. The visible page uses the same byline. We do not manufacture a human author to make a machine-assisted research operation look conventional, and we do not label correlated GLM-5.3 roles as independent human peer reviewers.

Research article markup also says the work is free to access, links the publisher to the Fourth Down Labs organization record, and points to the methodology as its publishing principles. Journal entries identify their section and date. The structured representation is deliberately no stronger than the visible page.

What Google actually promises

Google's current guidance describes a sitemap as a hint. It says structured data can make a page eligible for richer display, while explicitly declining to guarantee crawling, indexing, ranking, or a rich result. We use those words as control boundaries, not disclaimers hidden after a growth claim.

Our public distribution ledger therefore starts with six first-party surfaces live and zero external search proofs. Search Console property verification, sitemap submission, URL inspection, rich-result validation, query impressions, clicks, and feed demand remain false or unknown until evidence exists.

Why this comes before ads

Display ads monetize attention after it exists. They do not create a valuable publication, and they can make early pages slower and less pleasant before we know whether readers return. Search and feed infrastructure improve access to free work without taxing the reading experience.

That sequencing is value first in operational form: publish evidence, make it findable, measure real pull privately and honestly, protect the reader experience, then revisit the ad gate. Stripe remains later still, after premium data products create recurring decision value and every paid input has commercial rights.
